stay involved in all things gables

The Friends of Gables High (a non-profit booster organization 100% dedicated to supporting and promoting the school’s extraordinary programs) periodically organizes and communicates meaningful volunteer opportunities aimed at linking alumni and community participants with students to help them reach their potential, explore career opportunities, or learn through extra-curricular activities. Find out about possible mentoring opportunities, help mobilize alumni involvement through class reunions, or participate in the planning of capital projects — there are many ways to get involved.  Consider joining Friends of Gables High.

one-time or recurring monetary donation

Make a one-time or recurring monetary donation, as part of our Class of 1984 Gift.  Your contribution will be used by Friends of Gables High for specific needs identified by the students or faculty at the school.  Donations are tax deductible and all donors will receive receipts.  Our Class Gift will be recognized. The following three options have been identified as current priorities:

FOGH Endowment fund

FOGH aims to fund and manage a secure, long-term endowment which will facilitate annual contributions to the school and its programs over the medium and long-term, complementing county school board funding for capital projects and other important school program improvements. The endowment fund target is $1 million by the end of 2024. Your contribution can help ensure a positive, long-term impact at Gables High and keep the school well-positioned to meet student needs and to be recognized among the county’s best schools.

FOGH charitable fund

FOGH directs funds to pressing needs that arise during the year to support student programming, usually based on specific requests from faculty or administrators. In the past the Charitable Fund has donated money (over $60,000) to be used for projects such as College placement events or travel, Faculty lounge improvements, Student Learning Center technology improvements, upgrades to the school marquee, Gables Hall of Fame recognition, and many more.

beach volleyball

An idea that originated with interested student-athletes and faculty sponsors, the school’s new beach volleyball program, joins a small but growing group of other local high school beach volleyball programs, and will now be based around two recently-inaugurated beach volleyball courts installed on the school campus to the east of the baseball field. Proceeds for the construction were contributed by private and non-profit groups and individuals (including Friends of Gables High), but there is still approximately $14,000 needed to fulfill the capital requirement.
