From $11.2M to $35M — We Changed What Was Possible
When the Miami-Dade County School Board initially allocated $11.2M for campus renovations in 2012, Gables sat in disrepair for years. FOGH advocacy changed that — pushing the budget to $35M and holding the district accountable until work began.

Full replacement of aging windows and roof systems across the campus — keeping students safe, comfortable, and dry.

Modern, clean bathroom facilities across all buildings — a basic dignity that students had gone without for far too long.

FOGH’s investment in athletics has helped Cavalier teams compete at the highest level — including making history across the county.
Historic First
Beach Volleyball Courts
Gables became the first public school in Miami-Dade County to have on-campus beach volleyball courts. The Lady Cavs played their first home game in March 2024 — funded entirely by Friends.

Artificial Turf Field
State-of-the-art artificial turf for both the football, soccer and track field — giving every Cavalier athlete a home venue they can be proud of.
